i watched rolling thunder revue recently and thought….what if i do a tour sorta like that? gotta get good face paint and a good hat. play towns i don’t usually hit and play types of spaces i don’t usually play anymore.

so i booked this tour. will be playing farms, nature conservatories, old movie theaters, friends’ backyards, 1 or 2 traditional venues.

rare bird farm, where we’re playing in hot springs, nc

playing in clubs and bars.??? didn’t feel right. reaching for something else with this. hoping every night can be community oriented+ free wheeling. we can create these moments of utopia, visions of a future.

it’ll also be the 10 year anniversary of the first squirrel flower tour (july 2015) which hit some incredible shows and some not so incredible shows…

one was in richmond w lucy dacus before she blew up... one was in a baltimore basement that started to flood + the (very kind) host of the gig was mopping in front of me while i played.. one was in the back room of a colosseum themed nightclub in providence that made me pay 20$ to play to nobody..how far we’ve all come..
